This has been one of the hardest couple of weeks that I've experienced in a long while.
My beloved dog Buddy passed away very suddenly early last week. The emergency vet said that it was pancreatic tumors that happen fairly often with that breed. Given his age, she wasn't that surprised. On the way home with him (his pain pills in my pocket & an appointment for the next morning), he put his head between the front seats of my car, leaned against me... and died. *sigh*
(((
I expected to get a few weeks or possibly more to prepare for the inevitable... instead.. about 30 minutes. So. For the first time in more years than I can remember, my house was paw-less and for the first time, I felt very alone and very far away from everyone. It was an awful week.
Rest in peace, my sweet friend
On a MUCH brighter note, because I absolutely couldn't stand to have no pet to pamper, I added not one, but two new loves to my house.
This is Saban... she is 5.5 weeks old and came from a neighboring island called Hoonah. She is 75% Husky & 25% Lab... and I love her. She is so so so soooo sweet... but I'd forgotten how much work is involved with a new puppy.
Prior to finding Saban, I visited the local shelter and met up with a pretty cool cat. I changed his name to Nick and brought him home with me. He loves to play and sleep under the quilt on my bed.. he's so different from a dog but a great addition none the less!
So... it's been a pretty emotionally charged couple of weeks. Group members, thanks for your patience during my very sporadic appearances here. I hope to work on a new feature very soon.
